Posterior Interosseous Nerve Release - ExtendedAuthors: Mackinnon SE1, Yee A1Published: August 27, 2013AUTHOR The anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) is the terminal motor branch of the median nerve. It branches from the median nerve in the proximal forearm just below to the elbow joint. It is about 5–8 cm distal to the lateral epicondyle and 4 cm distal to the medial epicondyle. The anterior interosseous nerve is a branch of the median nerve that supplies the deep muscles on the anterior of the forearm, except the ulnar half of the flexor digitorum profundus. Its nerve roots come from C8 and T1. It accompanies the anterior interosseous artery along the anterior of the interosseous membrane of the forearm, in the interval between the flexor pollicis longus and flexor digitorum profundus, supplying the whole of the former and the radial half of the latter Posterior interosseous nerve syndrome is an entrapment of the deep branch of the radial nerve just distal to the elbow joint, which may result in paresis or paralysis of the digital and thumb extensor muscles.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to evaluate the terminal branch of the posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) by anatomically and histologically assessing the number, dimension, and area of its individual fascicles, by determining the dimension and area of the whole nerve itself, and by calculating the nerve density ratio (ratio of the sum of Posterior interosseous nerve syndrome is an entrapment of the deep branch of the radial nerve just distal to the elbow joint, which may result in paresis or paralysis of the digital and thumb extensor muscles. The causes of posterior interosseous nerve syndrome include intrinsic nerve abnormalities and extrinsic compression. Posterior interosseous neuropathy is an uncommon but well-studied condition. Typically, this condition presents with weakness in finger and thumb extension with preserved wrist extension as the Introduction : Posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) syndrome is a rare compression neuropathy of the PIN in the region of the supinator muscle, most common by the arcade of Frohse. We aimed to specify ultrasonographic findings in patients with PIN syndrome in comparison to healthy volunteers.
En komplett posterior interosseous nerv pares resulterat från axonotmesis Den radiella nerven böjs runt benbenet och ligger i ulnar fossa längs dess yttre leder till tillfällig förlamning, axonotmesis är skada på axoner i nervstammen). A complete posterior interosseous nerve palsy resulted from axonotmesis caused by pressure from a ganglion cyst. Excision of the neuroma and interpositional nerve grafting gave a most satisfactory outcome.

It is the continuation of the deep branch of the radial nerve, after this has crossed the supinator muscle. It is considerably diminished in size compared to the deep branch of the radial nerve. The nerve fibers originate from cervical segments C7 and C8. The posterior interosseous nerve, also known as the dorsal interosseous nerve, is the continuation of the deep branch of the radial nerve after it penetrates the supinator muscle. It carries fibers from the C7 and C8 spinal nerves, and supplies the majority of the muscles in the posterior compartment of the forearm.

2009-11-06 · The feasibility of transferring supinator branches to the posterior interosseous nerve has been documented in a previous anatomical study. In this paper, the authors report the clinical results of supinator motor nerve transfer to the posterior interosseous nerve in 4 patients with a C7–T1 root lesion.
